{"id":714,"date":"2022-04-01T22:53:13","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T02:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/h-residency.org\/?p=714"},"modified":"2022-04-01T22:53:13","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T02:53:13","slug":"david-corvalan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/h-residency.org\/en\/david-corvalan\/","title":{"rendered":"David Corval\u00e1n"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->Corval\u00e1n&#8217;s work is characterised by shifting the frontier from the contemporary sculptural object, mainly made of industrialised material, towards territorial performance, imbuing his work with the care and love that he manifests in capturing the essence of the ancestral environments he travels through and in constructing his own imaginary. He is mainly located in the Atacama Desert in Chile, where he discovers his main artistic purpose: to show the abuses that industry exercises on people, through a creative, calm and patient act of reverence towards the abused element and the territory.<\/p>\n<p>He has given visibility to contemporary Chilean art from its mining capital, the city of Calama, a place where aggressive extractivism affects both the landscape and human geography. To do so, he uses the sculptural medium that he has researched for so many years, taking it to a new level by fusing classical sculptural techniques with innovative materials. Since 2018, he has been incorporating the intervention in natural landscapes through performance as a language of dialogue, by means of photographic recording and subsequent manual intervention. It is his actions that have allowed him to explore the use and relationship between his sculptural work and his own body, in direct dialogue with the natural landscape through the neo-ritual in the
